ADULT EDUCATION
Adult Education encompasses a number
of different aspects of our Parish life. It includes, among
other things, the RCIA Process, Scripture
or Bible Studies, Adult Education Courses on numerous topics regarding Catholicism.
The schedule varies, with announcements being made in the Bulletin throughout
the year. There is no fee to participate in Adult Education programs,
the cost is covered through the parish Faith Commitment program.
Scripture or Bible Studies: A number of different opportunities
to study and pray with Scripture throughout the entire year are offered to
parishioners. Bible study groups meet on different days and at various
times. Each group has a different focus, such as: An Overview of the
Bible, The book of Tobit, or The Gospel of Luke...etc. Some groups last
only for 4 weeks while others continue throughout the entire year. These
studies often include the use of videos, books and of course, The Bible!
Anyone may begin attending these Bible Studies at Any Time...you do Not have
to join “at the beginning.”
Adult Education Courses: different opportunities are
offered throughout the year for Adults to deepen their knowledge and understanding
of the Catholic Church. Past courses include: A Lenten Mission, The Councils
of the Church and Vatican Council II, The Bible and Fundamentalism, Who is
Christ?, and a complete year and a half Overview of the Catholic Faith - FTCM.
Keep an eye on the Bulletin for future offerings!
RCIA: This is a process which the Catholic Church provides for
A) non-Catholics who are interested either in learning more about the Catholic
Church or for those who already know that they want become Catholic.
B) It is also for Catholics who were Baptized but did not receive the other
Sacraments of Initiation (First Eucharist and Confirmation). We offer
3 or 4 different opportunities each year for new people to begin this process.
This process has 2 distinct stages. The First stage (7 weeks), takes
place on Monday evenings. The second stage takes place on Sunday mornings.
The RCIA Process is a No-Pressure way for non-Catholics to explore and learn
more about the Catholic Faith. Catholics may participate in this process
in a volunteer capacity as either Team Members or Sponsors (Catholics who
share their faith and “walk-with” these people as they journey
into the Catholic Church).
